So exam week was over and the few of us decided to chill out by going to Helsinki for a walk and to also try out some local finnish food over the weekend.
It just so happened that Rishi (also an NTU exchange student at Tampere) with his 3 other friends arrived on Helsinki from St Petersburg trip by Ferry. They had all the time from morning till night before they catch their schedule 2 hrs bus ride back to Tampere from Helsinki.
So Helsinki was like our Singapore Orchard road, it is the capital of Finland which is located about 30 mins away from our town, Espoo if we travel by public bus.
What better way than to bring these two groups together since i was contacted by Rishi to meet them up in Helsinki and just nice my sch team here also wanna go for a tour round Helsinki.
the two groups met and we headed to a famous finnish restaurant (recommended by trip advisor) to try their authentic finnish food. I had a plate of reindeer with mashed potatoes that goes with the sweet cranberry wine. cost me about 25 euros but it was worth it as afterall i am in finland and i ought to try their authentic food before i leave!
After dinner, we wanted to head to the ice bar but then were told it was closed when we reacehed the area and couldn't find the bar!
hahas... then we went around and settled for another bar instead. it was quite cosy. So we each ordered a cup of wine or drink from the bar. I ordered this drink called T.T hairdresser it is vodka mixed with pepsi and lemon i think. for 7.5 euros but it taste really good. hahas... anw, that drink was recommended by the counter when i asked for their recommendations.
Had some fun and laughters before we parted with the Tampere team. They were telling us they really love the weather over here in Helsinki as it was negative teempt there in Tampere. But prob cox we havent experienced true coldness, we just find the tempt in Helsinki and Espoo very cold le. Brrr.... oh ya, met some Honkies from Rishi's team too. their accent really cute >.<
Oh ya, before the meet up with Rishi and friends, we actually were quite hungry while waiting for them so we decided to grab something from this fastfood called Southern fried chicken (SFC). It is expensive and the quality is nowhere near to KFC! but enough to feel up our stomach. :)
Oh yeah, experienced my first ever day light saving this morning! The clocked went slower by an hr from 4am in the morning this is due to the coming winter and the sun is only rising for a short while only. I slept at 3am that day. and when i woke up and saw it was 9 o'clock i wonder how come i feel that i have enough rest when i sleep so little! LOL! it was until Rishi texted me to ask if our meet up time is the old time or new time then i realised that my body has also slept an hr more! Now SG is 6 hrs ahead of Finland instead of 5hrs.
