This day is very fulfilling and let me start from the morning...
Woke up with supreme tiredness.. went to school for an exercise session. yeah..nth fantastic... then had an early lunch at 11 at the sch restaurant.
Then came the more interesting part...
I bought a gigantic winter jacket that has 80 percent down feather for 127 euros last friday. but as i went back home to try and snap a photo to my family.. they find the jacket looks rather big on me.
Luckily refund policy is very common here in Finland. So for this item i was given 14days to claim a full refund. Mei Fong told me before just tell them you wanna refund, no need to go crap out a story as they most prob wun listen and just do a refund for you as per request.
So i approach this sales lady who was arranging some items in the shop. Okie, she's really friendly. So i approached her and ask for a refund. her response was friendly and immediate. she brought me to the counter, credit the amount back to my Nordea Bank card as per request. I asked if she wanna take out my item and check in front of me... her response was no, we don't have to. this is how trusting they are to their customer and something i very pretty much like about the fins service industry.
Then i told her about my reason for refund.. not that i have to but we were kind of bored while she was doing the process so i told her about the big jacket. wah, her next response really helped me. She said the one i am returning is the smallest size for adults. if i really wanna get something similar like this jacket, i can go downstairs to the kids section. lol! she nv really mentioned kids but she just put it nicely as we have smaller size one level down. ya, for a small asian built like me, i guess i am too small for their smallest adult size. so i went down and indeed found the almost similar one that i have just returned. this was even better.. not only was it fitting on me, it's hood it detachable too! and it's coming at a cheaper price of 109 euros. but many told me december in finland wouldnt be as cold as in jan till march. so i just KIV and use my own winter jacket now. if really cannot stand the cold, then i shall get one. probably i will get the two piece interchageable winter jacket, come back to singapore can use.
Next, i took the bus to the nearest town, tapiola to meet my finnish friend, Ritta. We walked her son to his guitar lesson and there after she brought me around the town and introduce something i have never known even though i have been to the town for several times. She brought me to their indoor swimming pool to have a look. i wouldn't say it was fantastic as the pool size is not even the olympic standard size and guess what, for this public pool, it cost 5 euros per entrance! this is even more expensive than i go to Safra and swim!
Then she showed me the outdoor ice skating ring that is still in building process.. will be ready in this dec! wah! i hope to try that out before i leave!
While walking around, we bump into Armelle, Sharina and Jaewon. hahas.. seocnd time we bumped into each other in Tapiola le! So Ritta chit chatted with them.
Thereafter we went to pick up Ritta's son. and she brought me to their library. oh man, their public library was really good.. they even have a 3D printer section they let us print anything we wan! so cool! While walking back to her car to put down her son's guitar, she got a fine coupon. apparently her parking coupon has flown down onto the floor while she closed the car door and when traffice police came, they couldnt see her parking ticket and decided to fine her. 60 euros for such fine...this is chor lor!
We went to a small cafe for some high tea and chit chat. is not cheap lor. one portugese egg tart cost 2.6 euros, one raspberry pie cost 2.9euros. i treated her and her son since she brought me around but still.. damn expensive!
We departed and i went Nordea bank to request for a bank statement. i also voiced out my problem with using their card to buy something online. thankfully i asked.. so they say they will then isse a bank statement to my apartment every month. and because i asked, they apply some visa pass for me so i can purchase things easily online with the card. in this society, u must learn to be brave and ask. if not, nobody is going to tell u what u don't know as they themselves know not of what u have known and not know!
So i happily took a bus back to campus with so many things accomplished today. then i went to sch to ask about my semi con subjects as final exam is just two wkks away.
the phd student is really patient and good. and i was able to have all my doubts clarified for that topic.
Then i went back, changed out to my gym attire and went for kickboxing! this is my their time doing this in two weeks ever since i joined their gym memeber. i am really making full use of it. tmr i sign up for a session that teaches u how to relieve tense muscle which i badly need it and it really suits me. lol!
Fr dinner, I ordered an Americano pizza from the cafe for 8 euros. it was expensive but normally i dun eat out at night unless on rare occasions. otherwise i wld be broke! and i had a taste of blue cheese... yucks.. will nv order that again! it's too salty!
now, i really have to sign off and prepare a short presentation to my proj supervisor tmr morning.
