And so Ken bought the express ticket to Turku. cost us 30 euros each for the return tickets. The journey itself takes 2 hours from helsinki to Turku. Turku and Helsinki are the towns in Finland. okie, this is some new geographical stuff i learnt from Ken today.
we left school at about 10am and reached Turku around 12pm. Head to this pizza shop and we shared this pizza with 3 toppings on it. the pizza is made on the spot by this really beautiful finnish lady. ken was lamenting it was a waste for such a beautiful girl to work in such a shop. hahas.
Energised with the pizza lunch, we walked over to the visit the first attraction, Turku Cathedral.
This is the very first ang mo church i set foot on. the church is really magnificent. really.. it's building, painting... i really love it. Ken was telling me he saw nicer ones in Paris before. well, share leave such opinion when i travel there in the vacation. Bought a postcard from there too :)
There after we walked a really long way to the Turku castle. took us about an hr to travel there by foot. This is also the first time i step into a castle. however we have to buy the tickets to go into the castle. from ken, i found out tt meusem or historical sites will always sell student price tickets. all we need to do is to flash our student card here :)
the castle is well preserved and it was tiring climbing those stairs in this castle. Ken was complaining about his height as the doors are rather low. my short height proves to be an advantage here :P
took us an hour and a half to explore the castle. there were other meusem that we like to visit but we were running out of time as the last bus back to helsinki was at 6pm. the earliest bus to here was at 10.30am. nevertheless we were satisfied to visit the most important/must visit attractions in Turku.
We went to a cafe to try out their coffee again. Macchiato this time at 2 euros. it was just a small cup but that's one of the cheapest coffee we found so far. but it's size also explained its price too :P
Took a bus back to Helsinki and had my first ever "decent" dinner here! it's macdonald!!!! wah hahas... but the cheapest set meal i can find was 5.95 euros so i just bought it. but their servings are really big! food may be expensive in restaurants, cafes but their portion are rather big as well :) ordered their two layer beef burger.
So this basically sums up my day 6 over here :)
