We once again got informed by Hoang that today was the birthday of one of the big theatre company in Helsinki and the ticket prices are going for as low as 6 euros.
As a group, we went to catch Thor. their movie system is about the same as singapore but slightly cooler. Over here in Finland, you can go online to make a reservation without having to pay first for those tickets. If you do not make payment 30 and hr before the show time, those seats will be open up for others. And because of this system, we were able to catch the 4pm Thor! We went slightly late, at about 3pm to buy our tickets but it was all fully bought/reserved. Hence we waited for 30 mins before show starts and just nice, 6 seats were available for the 6 of us.
Their popcorns, drinks and snacks are sold separately from the ticketing counter. All their popcorns would be prepacked and store in a refrigerator like heater in different sizes and the drinks are all self service. So the fins will help themselves and pay at the cashier. I realised that the fins like to eat candy when watching movie. There is this section tgt with the popcorn and drinks, a huge block of plastic containers containing different types of sweets and chocolates. Is those self help sweets u see in 7 eleven or supermarket and they weigh by gram. just that over here, they have a humongous variety, those u can spot in candy empire that kind. many fins, esp the kids were busy picking their fav sweets before their movies.
Before the theatre room for our show open, all the fins are already queuing up nicely. Fins are really punctual people as claimed. in SG, u see people sauntering in after the commercial starts. here everyone just queue to wait for the door to be opened in an orderly manner.
But the fins were quite noisy during the commercial. everyone is talking about themselves and giggling... it was until one person shouted for them to keep quiet and the level went down a bit.
Suddenly the lights in the theatre brighten after the commercial. we were all shocked as we thought something bad might happened. it turned out to be the staff walking in with gifts and calling out seat number randomly for a lucky draw. they do this cox today was the theatre's birthday. nice concept!
Then the show started and the fins all quiet down by then.
This Thor was better than the first part! enjoyed watching it! :)
Next up, we went for Mexican Grill nearby as recommended by Hoang. Their prok ribs and chicken wings are delicious and the portion is damn big! it comes along with sour cream and bbq sauce. cost about 17 euros but definitely worth the price. i ordered also a plate of tortillas with sour cream, red and green chili with beef stew. it was delicious too! yummy! but we didn't know the plain water we ordered cost euros 50 cents each. but ah well, small matter as we were all satisfied with the main dish!
Once again, we went stadium to shop. stadium is one of their largest sports shop like our royal sporting house. but didn't find a beanie i like. will continue to search for it. Then we approach the staff to ask about skii-ing as yup, got some knowledge of it. At least i know what length of ski poles and rack i need should i be skii-ing in lapland! hee...
The day ended off with us walking back to the central helsinki to hitch a bus back to our hostel.
