hey peeps! just came back frm Batam.
this camp overall was average bah, but the most rewarding part was the beautiful sea scenery at the resort. the type of sea was rare here! it's super clean and when u immerse ur leg in, u can still see them clearly! there were also two swimming pools where you can swim during the free time.
as usual, for teambuilding we got high element, low ropes as well as raft building. there were suppose to have jungle trekking, however it was taken out.
high element was very very very high. in fact, the obstacles were tied to real tall trees in the jungle. it looked scary on ground, however the moment we were up there, it was really a different feeling, as long as you trust your belayer below. there were altogether five stages, with each stage getting higher. the most rewarding part was at the last stage. the highest stage-flying fox! hahas... after all the trembling on shaky ropes and log. everyone was required to go through this high element, even our lecturers were not spared too!
low rope was on next day. it's actually some team buiding games. the most memorable one would be the one that my group had to think of how to make the big, heavy wooden veticle and that put a rubber car tyre without the tyre touching the wooden pole. not only that, we also had to take out the tyre after that. and to make it challenging, the pole was long! so actually we had to send someone to climb the pole and put in as well as take out the tyre. it was rather challenging. i'll put up the photo once i have it!
raft building. now, i really know how to build and tie a proper raft. it was all scientific. as in we need to make use of physics uptrust force. one of the team manage to buld such a stable raft that they are able to sail 300metres out and make it back safely!
there were also workshops that we need to attend. but i guess most of us were dozing off due to the vigirous activities. mostly abt leadership and counselling workshops. i think most of us wanted to listen but then were trying hard to fight off the Z monsters.
Gala nite was rather fun. for my team we sort of screwed our skit. the skit ended off with quite a cold atm. in the intervals had some game. man! can't believe it, lady luck was with me tt nite! i bingo-ed! hahas. the food that nite was quite delicious! had barbequed prawns, satay, squid, chicken wings, fried noodles etc etc! was wearing a rather tight batik tt nite, so i dare not eat too much. but nvm, in the end the batik costume won me a free movie voucher! heheh.
in the next morning, Siva and i met up early and we went to the beach to have some snap shots. it was the last day in resort. so we tried our best to take as many photo shots as possible before the breakfast.
on the last day, after we left the resort we proceed to a nearby school to carry out our CIP. okies, the kids there were rather pitiful but not to the extend of tearing. you'll understand when you do CIP in cambodia. these kids were slightly more fortunate as they all have proper clothes to wear. siva was telling me he was so touched by the kids..probably he can communicate with the kids using malay but i can't or maybe cambodia. speaking of cambodia, i really wish to join the team again this yr.
so after that we went to a mega mall to shop shop before boarding the ferry. didn't want to have lunch initially, but we happen to see A&W! was very excited cause the last one in ang mo kio close down yrs ago. so i tried their mango pocket chicken as well as their sundae. after that, most of us bought 1 DOZEN OF DONUTS THERE! hahas... it cost around 52 000 rupiah. so u divide by 6000 then u get the sing dollars. so ard 8 dollars plus plus for 12 donuts! so it's rather cheap. although sing has this branch but maybe the batam donut and sing donuts taste different =P
overall this camp is not bad. so ard 6 girls in a grp of 50. so yar, learnt some crude or yellow jokes from them =P hahas...finally i know now what is the fruit dance! some guys eventually danced in front of us for forfeit. lol! funny but then crude! hahas.
