Metropolitan YMCA singapore

For one of our character development project, the whole has decided to do the CIP together.

mus has found out from MYMCA that they need a lot of volunteers for their various activities in end of may and june.

so today after sch, almost the whole class gather and we set off to the MYMCA building which is in orchard.

you may wonder, ymca is in douby ghaut right? hahas..actually that is ymca but the one in orchard in Mymca. some how related, just that one got m the other dun have.

so we were brought to the room and told to fill up our particulars.

then tracy aka strawberry (nick name) gave us a briefing. but before that, she told us a little history of ymca. she said otherwise it would be quite meaningless to work in an organisation we do not know. they had four core values too... honesty, responsibility, respect and trust... each got diff colours representing it.

the whole month of june was really packed for different kinds of children camp. some last for two days, longest up to five days. there's this commander camp which is kinda fun. the kids get to go sentosa to camp. it's an out door camp. the helpers aka the camp leader has to follow them and stayed over night. other wise, the other camp such as tennis, soccer, roller blading, ice skating etc need not stay over night. as the kids will be going there for the full whole day then will go home at 5.30.

yup, so i chose to volunteer at a fun fair (30th to 31st may )and a roller blading camp. wanted to join commander camp but clashes with CYA training. yeah! will be working with kids soon! i wonder how different will they be from cambodian kids =X i sure miss cambodia kids!

but tracy warn us that some children we must be cautious as they will make up stories abt male volunteers molesting them. she also told us some funny incidents while working with the kids. hahas.. sounds quite scary. but luckily i'm a female. hahas.. she suggest that we study about the behavior of singapore kids so that we can get along with them better during the camp.

we were given camp tee too.. hahas... got a blue on for this fun fair. then another green one for roller blading camp.

hope that it's going to be a meaningful and fun experience! =D
